The Bonney Lake Panthers remained in the thick of the South Puget Sound League 3A playoff race with a victory and a tie.
Needing a Top 5 finish to see postseason play, the Panthers sat at 2-1-2 through games of last week, good for fourth place.
This week, Tuesday brought the league’s toughest test, as the Panthers traveled to face the undefeated White River Hornets; results were not available at press time but will be posted at www.blscourierherald.com. It was Bonney Lake’s only contest of the week as the Panthers have a bye Friday. The league season concludes next week with games against Auburn Mountainview and Sumner.
The tie came Friday when Bonney Lake battled to a 1-1 draw against the tough Peninsula Seahawks.
The Panthers jumped on the scoreboard first when Nick Hall scored at the 20-minute mark. Peninsula pulled even in the 60th minute and that was it for the scoring.
April 21 was a different story as the Panthers blasted the lowly Lakes Lancers 9-0.
Hall scored four times in the first half and Kyle Ottwell and J.D. Walter added goals, giving the Panthers a 6-0 advantage at the half.
Ottwell, Hall and Jordan Billy piled on second-half goals.
