The Bonney Lake Panthers finished the soccer season with a loss and a tie, posted a South Puget Sound League 3A record of 2-3-3 and find themselves on the sidelines as postseason play gets under way.

The Panthers claimed seventh place in the SPSL 3A and only the top five move on.

Bonney Lake went out strong, playing fourth-place Sumner High to a 1-1 tie Friday on the Spartans’ home turf.

All the scoring came early, with Sumner hitting the scoreboard first with a goal by Phillip Kyllo, followed not too many minutes later by a goal off the foot of Bonney Lake’s Craig Sterling. Defenses dominated the rest of the way.

The Panthers opened the final week of the season with a May 5 home field loss to the second-place Auburn Mountainview Lions. Bonney Lake’s Kyle Ottwell, Nick Hall and Drew Sadowsky had goals in the 4-3 defeat.
