Enumclaw fastpitch: Enumclaw hands Kennedy big loss
May 19, 2009 · Updated 11:07 AM
The Enumclaw High fastpitch squad got its postseason off with a bang Monday (May 18) afternoon as it handed Kennedy High its second setback of the season with a 7-3 victory in the subdistrict 3A fastpitch tournament at Parkland's Sprinker Recreation Center.
Enumclaw senior centerfielder Taylor Franich drove the first offering from a Kennedy pitcher to the fence and touch all the bases for an inside-the-park home run.
Hornet hurler Austin Rogers did not allow an earned run, while striking out eight and walking four. Enumclaw committed three errors, but still managed to beat the pride of the Seamount League.
Enumclaw was still waiting for the winner of the Bonney Lake-Mount Rainier contest, which was tied at one in the top of the tenth inning. The Hornets and the winner of that contest enters Friday and Saturday's West Central District Tournament, also scheduled for Sprinker, as the No. 1 seed.
