High school fall sports start Aug. 19
Countdown to the first day of practice is under way for fall high school athletes in the area’s four schools.
The Washington Interscholastic Activities Association announced Aug. 19 is the first day of practice for football.
WIAA rules state a player must practice a minimum of 12 days before competing in a contest. Each team can play a maximum of 10 games and one jamboree.
The first day of practice for other fall sports is Aug. 24. Each cross country runner must practice a minimum of 10 days before competing in a meet. Cross country teams are allowed up to 10 meets and a jamboree.
Tennis teams can schedule up to 12 contests and a jamboree.
Soccer players must practice at least 10 days before competing. Teams can have a maximum of 16 games and a jamboree.
