WHITE RIVER TENNIS: Doubles picks up victory

White River High’s double duo of Steve Root and Cameron Sautner battled for their first win of the season. The Hornets lost the first set with Auburn Mountainview’s Dillon Hurley and Brendan Chandler after a 7-5 tiebreaker. The Hornet pair rallied for an 8-6 win in the second set and then put away the Lions 6-4 for the victory.

The pair were White River’s single win in a 4-1 loss to the Lions.

The Hornets suffered a 5-0 nonleague loss to Capital Friday.

Tanner Williams and Josh Mills at No. 3 doubles battled to a 6-1, 6-3 loss, while No. 2 singles Chris Thompson went 6-4 in the first set before dropping the second 6-0.
