Sunny skies and sweeping vistas of Mount Rainier didn’t help the White River High girls golf team distract the Franklin Pierce Cardinals from their task – taking a 37-20 South Puget Sound League 3A season-opening victory.

The Hornets were led by Rebecca Norris’ 54-stroke, eight-point performance and Tia Johnson’s 56 for seven points. Jordynn Smith contributed three points and Caitlyn Miller added two.

The Hornets hit the fairways again Tuesday at Bonney Lake.
