WHITE RIVER TENNIS: Hornets earn first win
September 21, 2009 · 2:02 PM
White River won its first match of the season, 3-2 over Bonney Lake Sept. 14, but it doesn’t count toward the Hornets’ league record. The next Hornet-Panther matchup on Oct. 5 will be the one that counts. But it did boost their overall record to 1-2 and a forfeit win over North Thurston in a make-up contest Thursday evened the Hornets’ overall record at 2-2.
Against the Panthers, Chris Thompson beat Andrew Leas in No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-4.
Dillon Meyers and Michael Baron defeated Devon Crump and Adrian Gonzales, 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 in No. 2 doubles.
Tanner Williams and Joshua Mills defeated Andrew Allen and Ryan Slamen, 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 in No. 3 doubles.
The Hornets travel to Franklin Pierce today, Wednesday, and then host Clover Park at 3:30 p.m. Friday.
