The Enumclaw High girls opened South Puget Sound League 3A soccer play on a successful note, defeating Sumner High 4-1 Thursday and blanking Auburn Mountainview Oct 6.

The home-field victory over Sumner was highlighted by the two-goal performance of Claire Meeks. Adding to the Hornet total were Erin McCrillis and Noelle Bauer with a goal each.

The 1-0 victory at Auburn Mountainview was decided on a penalty kick by Dani Streuli. Caitlin Plese turned in a shutout in goal.

The Hornets have two more league games in the coming days, hosting Franklin Pierce Thursday and traveling to Clover Park Tuesday. Enumclaw had one game earlier this week, traveling to face Timberline Tuesday in a nonleague contest; results came too late to be included here but will be posted at www.courierherald.com.
