The White River Hornets jumped to a 2-1 start in South Puget Sound League 3A soccer play, earning a split in two contest last week.

The Hornets’ first league loss came Thursday night at Lakes when White River was blanked 1-0 by the host Lancers.

It was a different story Oct. 6, when the Hornets beat the visiting Clover Park Warriors 3-0. White River did all its damage in the first half, starting with a penalty kick by Morgan Brown in the 26th minute; then came goals by Maggie Williams in the 30th minute and Jillian Keane in the 39th minute.

White River was back in SPSL 3A action Tuesday, traveling to Peninsula High in Purdy; results came too late to include here but will be posted at www.courierherald.com. Thursday will find the Hornets traveling to Yalm for a nonleague game and Tuesday has the team returning to league play, hosting the front-running Bonney Lake Panthers.
