The White River High girls will need to finish the South Puget Sound League 3A soccer season on a strong note if they are to make a postseason appearance.

The Hornets sat at 2-4 through games of last week, good for sixth place in the SPSL 3A standings. The top four clubs are guaranteed to make the playoffs and the No. 5 team will be the opportunity to qualify.

Postseason play begins Nov. 4 when the top four SPSL 3A teams square off against the peers from the Seamount League for postseason seeding. The No. 5 teams from each league will play each other in a loser-out affair. The playoff schedule then has teams playing Nov. 7, hoping to advance to the state tournament.

White River finishes the regular season on a tough note, slated to play a pair of upper-division clubs. The Hornets took on Sumner Tuesday; results came too late to include here but will be posted at www.courierherald.com. Thursday, White River will host Enumclaw.

WRHS is coming off a tough week in which it suffered losses to Auburn Mountainview and the league-leading Bonney Lake.

White River was blanked 3-0 Oct. 20 by the Panthers and fell 3-1 Thursday to the Lions. In Thursday’s game, the Hornet goal was registered by Sutton Mills late in the contest.
