Bolstered by the white-hot shooting of senior guards Riley Carel and Coleman Clyde, the Enumclaw High basketball squad blew a tenacious but young Sumner High crew out of Chuck Smith Gymnasium Tuesday night, thrashing the Spartans 69-29.

Clyde ignited his teammates by scoring 18 first-half points and Carel put the explanation point on a great first half when he buried a 3-point buzzer-beater from half court to make the score at intermission 47-14.

Spartan coach Brett McDaniel had high praise for the Hornets.

"They were even better than I thought they were," he said. "They forced way too many turnovers and we just couldn't seem to get to the basket tonight. I wish the Hornets all the best at the state tournament, because they will be going. They are a very tough team."

By the end of the lopsided tilt every player on the Hornet bench had seen playing time.
