EHS GIRLS WRESTLING: Renfrow, Bailey score titles at Fife tournament

Kassandra Renfrow and Chantelle Bailey led the Enumclaw High girls wrestling attack at the Impromptu Tournament at Fife High Saturday. Warden High of eastern Washington won the tournament with EHS finishing seventh.

Renfrow defeated Broke Cooper of Burlington-Edison for the 145-pound title. Renfrow pinned her opponent in the finals at the 2-minute, 48-second mark.

Bailey continues her march toward a repeat state title, winning the 171-pound crown with a 1:20 pin over Faith Wasmund of Fife.

Freshman Jade Paterson captured second at 171-pounds plus. Chelsea Macri of Fife pinned her in 1:28 during the championship round. Teammate Rose Johnson finished third.

After suffering an ankle injury, Carson Seitz rounded out EHS’s scoring with a fourth-place finish at 160 pounds.

“It was a good tournament with good competition,” coach Jerry Scheidt said.

The Hornets also competed at the all-South Puget Sound League Girls’ Night Friday at Auburn Mountainview, where Maranda Long, Bailey and Paterson each picked up a win by fall. Seitz also wrestled that evening.

Logann Erksine and Renfrow also picked up regular season matches against Clover Park Jan. 13, both winning by pin.

The Hornets are scheduled to face SPSL 3A wrestlers at Bonney Lake today, Wednesday, and with Franklin Pierce Thursday. Match time for both is 6 p.m.
