White River girls fall in King Holiday Hoopfest

The White River High girls trekked north Monday to participate in the prestigious King Holiday Hoopfest and headed home on the short end of a 54-42 decision against Kentwood High.
The Hornets were outscored in every quarter by the powerful Kentwood crew, trailing 11-5 after one quarter, 24-17 at intermission and 38-29 after three periods of play.
Megan McKune and Sabra Sproul scored nearly two-thirds of White River's points, finishing with 16 and 11, respectively.
For Kentwood, 5-1 guard Kylie Huerta scored exactly half her team's total, finishing with 27.
With the loss, White River dropped to 10-2 overall. In South Puget Sound League 3A play, the Hornets are in first place with a 7-1 record.
Kentwood, the defending Class 4A state champion, improved to 11-3 with the win.
