EHS BOYS SWIM: Enumclaw prepares for subdistrict meet

Enumclaw High finished the regular boys swim season with a 106-80 nonleague loss to North Thurston Jan. 19. The Hornets ended the South Puget Sound League 3A season with a 5-1 record.

The team is scheduled to compete at the subdistrict meet Friday afternoon and Saturday at Auburn. This is the last opportunity to qualify for the district meet Feb. 12 and Feb. 13 at Renton’s Hazen High pool.

Against North Thurston, the Hornets’ 200-yard medley relay team of Thomas Petersen, Bennon VanHoof, Shane Jackson and Will Cooper won with a time of 1 minute, 51.91 seconds.

Cooper, a freshman, also won the 50 freestyle with a time of 24.88 and the 500 freestyle in 5:28.74.

VanHoof, also a freshman, won the 100 breaststoke with a time of 1:05.32.
