The White River High girls tennis team started the season with a 5-0 loss to Auburn Mountainview March 15, but rallied for a 3-2 nonleague victory over Eatonville Thursday.

Rachael Hoflack lost the first set 6-2 then won two straight, 6-1, 6-2 for the No. 1 singles win against Eatonville.

In No. 1 doubles Haley Havelock and Courtney Hall won in straight sets, 6-0, 6-2. The No. 3 doubles team of Ashley Gibson and Christina Ramous worked hard for their win. The pair dropped the first set 6-4, then rallied to win the next with a tie-breaker and captured the third 6-1.

The Hornets, 1-1 overall, were scheduled to face Sumner in the league opener Tuesday. Results were not available at press time and will travel to Franklin Pierce Thursday.
