Enumclaw Track: Schreiner wins two at Thursday meet

Several Enumclaw High track and field athletes fared well during double-dual action Thursday.

Participating at Clover Park, the Hornets competed against the host Warriors and the Franklin Pierce Cardinals.

The EHS girls were paced by Stephanie Schreiner, who won two events on the day. She was tops in the long jump, sailing 17 feet, 1 inch, and topped the field in the triple jump with an effort of 36 feet.

Other individual winners for the Hornet girls were Carissa Gwerder, who clocked a time of 2 minutes, 32.11 seconds in the 800 meters; Julia Harrris, who ran 5:55 in the 1,600 meters; Melissa Gonzales, 13:27.80, 3,200 meters; AnnaMarie Forza, javelin, 103-7; and the 1,600-meter relay team of Caitlin Harris, Amber Cox, Emily Eilertson and Gwerder, 4:33.05.

The Hornet boys were paced by first-place efforts from Braden Timpe, who won the 1,600-meter run with a time of 4:29.50; Alec Rhome, who took the 3,200 in 11:20.54; Jordan Grant, who topped the field in the discus with a throw of 139-05; Joe Cerne, javelin, 167-09; and David Brazier, pole vault, 12-6.

Second place for the Hornet boys went to Ryan Weller in the 800 meters; Cerne in both the 110- and 300-meter hurdles; Joe Glick, shot put; Kolton Carlson, discus; and Stephen Carlino, high jump.
