Enumclaw fastpitch scores victory over Sumner
April 20, 2010 · Updated 4:17 PM
The Enumclaw High fastpitch squad dropped two of three games last week.
The Hornets hosted and lost 15-4 to Bonney Lake April 12, then crushing Sumner 9-2 the next day before losing to Lakes 6-3 Thursday. The one-of-three stretch made EHS’s South Puget Sound League 3A record 5-3 going into the season’s second round of contests.
When league-leading (10-1) Bonney Lake visited EHS’s Boise Creek Sixplex home digs, the Panthers once again overpowered EHS as this time around BLHS racked up a dozen hits and the Hornets recorded six errors.
Enumclaw’s crew redeemed itself April 14 when it beat Sumner’s Spartans 9-2. This time it was the Spartans who completely lost concentration with their glove work not offering much defensive support for Spartan pitcher Taylor McCarthy, as SHS players committed 13 errors.
Enumclaw’s senior windmiller Austin Rogers went the seven-inning distance, striking out eight Sumner batters and enjoying fantastic play defensively, as her position players backed her well with zero miscues on the day.
Enumclaw had trouble generating much offense against Lakes Thursday and fell 6-3.
