The Enumclaw High judo team sewed up the Puget Sound League championship before the home crowd Saturday with wins over Port Angeles and Kent-Meridian.

For the second time this season, the Hornets topped the Royals 97-50 and then took it to Port Angeles 110-30.

On April 21, the Hornets padded their perfect record with a home mat, 110-30 win over Kentlake and an 80-60 nail-biting victory over defending state champion Kentridge.

Coach Mike Nepper said an undefeated season was the Hornets’ goal and now they will take a week off and get ready for the state championships May 8 at Kentridge High.

Two standouts for the Hornets’ this season are freshman Jade Paterson and senior Lauren Storer; both finished the season undefeated.
