Enumclaw baseball sews up league crown

Enumclaw High salted away the South Puget Sound League 3A baseball crown with 10-0 and 2-1 victories over White River and Franklin Pierce, improving to 13-2.
Enumclaw will be the No. 1 seed out of the SPSL 3A and will lock horns with unbeaten Mount Rainier out of the Seamount League at 7 p.m. Saturday at Auburn Mountainview.
Friday, Enumclaw overwhelmed White River as junior hurler Marcus Madden had his mound mojo working and Kyle Baumgartner and Eric Koenig each belted home runs, leading to a 10-0, five-inning victory.
Saturday, the Hornets hosted an ambitious Franklin Pierce club that took the Hornets into a bonus panel before EHS collected its 13th victory of the season, winning 2-1.
The Cardinals knotted the score at one in the top of the fifth inning, but could not score another run against stingy Enumclaw reliever Levi Goodin, who went three-plus innings to be the winning pitcher of record.
