Enumclaw will send a pair of doubles teams – Anna Nelson and Lauren Redman, plus Julie Sanders and Breanna Pierce – to the state girls tennis tournament in Vancouver, Wash.

Nelson and Redman face Everett in the opener Friday at the Vancouver Tennis Complex. Pierce and Sanders drew Bainbridge Island for their first match, also Friday. Competition continues Saturday.

Coach Rick Carel said the four seniors are ready for the state tournament, and they’re seeding should help them do well.

“Julie and Breanna had to step up and win, and they did,” Carel said of their play at the district level. “Lauren and Anna are pretty solid, they’re game has definitely matured.”

Nelson and Redman finished third at the West Central District tournament, which wrapped up play Saturday, while Sanders and Pierce finished sixth. The top seven seeds earned a state berth.

Nelson and Redman, who represented EHS at state last season, went three sets for their No. 3 seed including taking a tiebreaker in the final set.
