Olson stays on with Tacoma

Enumclaw High graduate Andrew Olson had a memorable maiden voyage this spring at Tacoma Community College, posting numbers that made him a hot commodity.
Despite not having much offensive run support from the slumbering TCC batters’ lumber, Olson culminated the 2010 campaign with a 8-2 pitching record and a 2.42 earned run average that captured the attention of the Oregon Ducks and University of Washington Huskies.
“The Huskies and the Ducks contacted me and Coach (Donegul) Fergus told me that I was more than welcome to come along with him to pitch for Seattle University, when he found out that he was going to be the new head coach of the Redhawks next season,” Olson said.
But Olson did not feel comfortable moving on after one season.
“My teammates are a great bunch of dudes and, besides, I still want to add the slider to my pitching repertoire,” Olson said. Additionally, Olson believes his TCC has a shot at claiming the Northwest Athletic Association of Community College championship in 2011.
This summer, Olson is toeing the slab for the Olympia Athletics of the Puget Sound Collegiate League, made up of community college and Division I players.
