Binetti signs with new team

Enumclaw’s Tony Binetti has inked a fresh contact with yet another Lega Due squad in the Italian Basketball League.
After intense negotiations with his former team, Banco Dinamo (Sassari) Sardinia, an Italian region and a scenic island in the Mediterranean Sea, Binetti eventually signed a one-year deal with a team from the small mountainous village in the heart of the Italian mainland directly between Rome and Naples, named Veroli, population 20,000.
“Sassari had previously discussed making my return possible, but I have to do what is best for me and my family. Veroli is an up and coming squad that is putting together a potentially fantastic team,” Binetti said. “Veroli gave me a better deal....bottom line” said the former Enumclaw High hoopster, who earned all-America honors at Seattle Pacific University.
For Sassari, Binetti was an important cog in the Sardinian synchronized machine as a sixth man who often entered the game at crunch time. The Enumclaw native explained though, he should see more minutes on the hardwood next season.
“Veroli would not have signed me just to have me riding the pines,” he said. “I got the feeling from talking with the coach, that I will be seeing plenty of playing time, if not starting.”
