The Sumner High Spartans played twice last week, winning a jamboree game and losing a nonleague battle.

Sumner lost at home to Cascade Christian 42-27 Saturday and beat Lincoln 15-10 in a mini-game Dec. 1 at Curtis High.

Against Cascade Christian Jordan Bone was the top scorer with 12 points.

“I was pleased with the team’s effort,” coach Brett McDaniel said. “The kids are getting a lot better. Everyone is buying in and now it is a matter of the kids just playing.”

The Spartans pulled within five in the third frame, but could not close the gap in the stretch run.

Sumner traveled to North Thurston Tuesday for a nonleague game; scores were not available.

The Spartans host Enumclaw at 7 p.m. Friday. The game will be the first South Puget Sound League 3A test for Sumner this season. The Hornets won the SPSL title last year.

Sumner will travel to Peninsula for a 7 p.m. game Saturday.
