BRIEF: Junior Hornets find success Saturday

The fourth-grade Junior Hornet team blew out the Harpers Angels 35-0 to set the tone for Saturday’s competition.

The fifth-grade team encountered more severe weather conditions while battling an undefeated and talented opponent. The scoreboard read 19-6 at the end of the game in favor of the Harpers Angels, who knew they had been in a dogfight.

The sky turned black, lightning cracked and thunderstorms swooped in as the sixth-grade Hornets took command on both sides of the football and put the hammer down 28-0.

The seventh-grade squad played its game in a constant downpour. Trailing by one touchdown in the first half, the team battled in the second half and lost the fight in the end.

The eighth-grade team was greeted by more thunder and lightning, plus several inches of standing water on the sideline. The referees tried to justify starting the game, but deemed it unsafe and cancelled the contest.

The Junior Hornets take on the Lancers Orange at Fort Lewis in Tacoma Saturday.
