EHS and WRHS GIRLS WRESTLING: White River finishes second at Rick Sales Tournament

White River and Enumclaw high's girls wrestling teams ventured to the Rick Sales tournament in Fife Saturday, where the White River Hornets finished second behind Warden and the Enumclaw High Hornets finished sixth. Warden won the tournament with 138 points. White River followed with 125 and Fife was third with 120. Enumclaw earned its sixth-place finish with 83 points.

Warden won the tournament with 138 points. White River followed with 125 and Fife was third with 120. Enumclaw earned its sixth-place finish with 83 points.

For White River, Hornets Mikaela Kilcup and Sam Mitchell were champions. Kilcup claiming her 170-pound title with a 6-4 decision over Jade Paterson of Enumclaw.

Mitchell captured the 195-pound crown, pinning Jasmne Tuilaepa of Puyallup in 2 minutes, 26 seconds.

The Hornets also put Jesslyn Blue and Dylan Fagan in the finals. Blue dropping a 13-7 contest to Lateah Holmes of Fife at 145 pounds and Fagan falling to Madison Thackara of Fife in 1:32 at 155 pounds.

Teammate Morgan Shirey, 106, finished third. Kylie Norton, 137, earned a fifth-place finish and Ericka Jackson was sixth at 275.

Hornets Jamie Meagher and Erika Shelby also competed in a b-division weight class where the could not contribute to the Hornets’ team point total. Meagher, 137b, finished six, and Shelby, 155b, was third.

In addition to Paterson’s appearance in the championship round, Enumclaw’s put KC Moulden on the mat at 275 pounds and watched her win the title with a 28-second pin of Andrewa Contreras of Warden.

In the same weight division, teammate Sam Lanting finished third. The Hornets also picked up points thanks to Logann Erskine’s third-place finish at 155 pounds.

Jasmine Anderson, 106, Danielle Cormier, 145, and Chantel Capps, 195, all finished sixth.

Kasandra Renfrow finished second in the 155b bracket, which did not count toward team points.
