EHS GOLF: Hornets making run at crown

Colton McCluskey and Kurt Kindsvater shared medalist honors Thursday in the Enumclaw High boys golf team’s 95-57 win over Decatur.

Both finished the round at 1-over par 36 at Enumclaw Golf Course. Teammate Chase Dolliver was one stroke behind.

The Hornets also won a 95-52 match over Bonney Lake Sept. 28 at High Cedars Golf Course to remain undefeated, and in first place, with two matches remaining in the regular season.

Tyler Salisbury earned medalist honors with a 4-under par 31.

It was a tougher time for the girls, who suffered their first loss since 2004 Thursday.

The string of victories set an EHS record for most consecutive league victories at 47. Second on the list is 24, from 1992 to 1994.

Despite the record-setting medalist performance of Kelly Sweeney, the Hornets lost to the Gators 139-129. Sweeney set an EHS individual course record with a 3-over par 39.

The senior was also medalist in EHS’s 149-103 win over Bonney Lake Sept. 28 finishing at 43, sharing the honor with teammate Janie Francis.

With two matches remaining in the regular season, the Hornets are tied for first with Decatur.
