EHS GYMNASTICS: Hornets plan run at state crown

It would be difficult for members of the Enumclaw High gymnastics team not to have pretty high expectations heading into the season.

It would be difficult for members of the Enumclaw High gymnastics team not to have pretty high expectations heading into the season.

Last year’s club, in its maiden voyage, battled the state’s best and emerged second at the state Class 2A/3A meet. Coach Ben Skipworth lost just two performers from that team.

Heading the list of returnees is Olivia Bannerot, who wound up fifth in the all-around competition at the state meet. She tied for first in the vault with graduated teammate Kelsey Messer, tied for sixth in the floor exercise, was 10th on the bars and tied for 16th on the balance beam.

Also returning for the Hornets is Molly Mattheis, who tied for sixth in the vault at last year’s state meet.

White River

Turning out with the EHS program but scoring independently are White River gymnasts.

Topping the list is Kelly Coyle, who qualified for three events at last season’s state meet. Her top state performance was in the floor exercise, where she tied for 22nd.
