Facing the defending state champion proved a challenge for the Enumclaw High girls water polo team as the Hornets dropped an 18-6 contest to Gig Harbor March 29.

Annie Birklid led the Hornets’ scoring with three goals Kelsey Sonneson knocked in two and Erin Stucker added another.

The Hornets, 3-1 in league play and 4-3 overall, will step away from competition during spring break and return to action to host Bonney Lake/Sumner on April 12 at 4:30 p.m.
