EHS WRESTLING: EHS rolls to regionals with crown

Enumclaw High advanced 14 wrestlers and two alternates to the regional wrestling tournament Friday and Saturday at Bonney Lake High, where they will be joined by teams from the Narrows, Olympic and Greater St. Helen’s leagues to vie for the top spots into the state championship.

Enumclaw High advanced 14 wrestlers and two alternates to the regional wrestling tournament Friday and Saturday at Bonney Lake High, where they will be joined by teams from the Narrows, Olympic and Greater St. Helen’s leagues to vie for the top spots into the state championship.

Competition begins Friday at 4:30 p.m. and continues Saturday at 10 a.m.

Eight Hornets earned titles Saturday at the subregional tournament at Auburn Mountainview and EHS won the event with 342 points, edging Bonney Lake which finished with 245.

Tyke Reid won the 112-pound title with a 12-5 decision over Bonney Lake’s Andrew Cunningham. Hunter File handed Casey Larsono of Peninsula a 6-2 loss for the 130-pound crown and Lucas Somera won the 135-pound title, pinning Bonney Lake’s Matt Yuste.

Marcus Nichols captured the 140-pound title with a 10-3 win over Jeremy Sabin of Bonney Lake. Josh Musick was a title winner at 152 pounds with a pin over Devin McNeil of Lakes. Kario Wallin also picked up a fall for the title, topping Nick Karis of Decatur at 160 pounds.

Colton Malek won an 8-2 decision over Michael Sly of Peninsula for the 189 crown.

T.J. Cormier topped teammate Colton Sambrano at 215 pounds for the crown. The junior won 9-4.

Travis Reano, 125, was also a runner-up for the Hornets.

Jayden Fend, 119, Justin Mitchell, 140, and Chris Williams, heavyweight, finished third.

At 152, Ryan Anderson earned fourth place and advances.

Colton Hodges, 112, and Shane Sanders, 171, finished fifth and will serve as alternates.

Garrett Jarosz, Jerad Paul, Russell Horton and Garrett Roe were sixth.
