When Enumclaw High’s baseball squad faced Highline at the Russell Road Complex in Kent on Saturday – in South Puget Sound League/Seamount League 3A subdistrict – they were facing a mirror image of themselves as far as style of play.

But it was Enumclaw that had to look at its frowning reflection after dropping the game 5-3 to the Pirates.

Fiedler and his 16-5 troops were slated to play the Columbia River Chieftains in Vancouver’s Propstra Stadium Tuesday, results came too late to include here but will be posted at www.courierherald.com.

A balk call against Hornet senior southpaw Andrew Olson that allowed a Pirate baserunner to score in the bottom of the second had Enumclaw down 4-0, but Enumclaw’s lumber finally awakened and the Hornets had two aboard with no outs and Kyle Baumgartner strolling to the plate.

The stellar sophomore outfielder smashed a rocket just over the outstretched glove of the Highline second baseman, scoring both Hornets to make the score 4-2.

Baumgartner got his squad one run closer as he stole second base, advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on a Beau Matthias double.

In the bottom of the fifth the Seamount League’s leader in runs batted in, Brandon D’Andrea, gleaned his third RBI of the contest with a sacrifice fly to finish the scoring.
