Enumclaw gymnastic team looking for third state titles

The Enumclaw gymnastic team is on the road to take its third consecutive state championship.

The Hornets competed at an invitational over the weekend and came  in second by less than a point.

Coach Ben Skipworth said he was impressed with the team’s performance at the invitation.

“We have a solid core. We will get stuff cleaned up and makes some big scores,” Skipworth said.

The Hornets bring back the core of the 2013 state champion team with Olivia Bannerot, the 2013 individual state champion in bars, Emily Berte, Maddison Ward,  Victoria Hernandez and Maria Blad.

Adding depth to the team are two freshman gymnasts, Elise Dunning and BriAnna Reisinger.

Skipworth has been coaching for 12 years, starting when he was 16 years old. He has lead the Hornets four years, bringing two state titles and now is looking for a third.
