The Enumclaw Hornets baseball team is now 3-2 in South Puget Sound League 3A play following a solid 4-1 victory versus the Peninsula Seahawks. Enumclaw was led by their seniors.

Centerfielder Tyler Carlson went 3-3 including a solo home run.

Starting pitcher Kevin Nelson threw a complete game. No one on Peninsula could consistently put the bat on the ball and Nelson was hitting his spots, which forced the Seahawk hitters into several weakly hit outs and only one earned run in seven innings.

The Hornets were facing some pressure to win against Peninsula. After starting league play 2-0 against Lakes and Decatur,  Enumclaw was coming off back to back losses to Bonney Lake and Auburn MountainView, which made the performance by Carlson and Nelson that much more impressive.

Assistant coach Jeremy Curtin said “We know we can compete with any team in his league.”

Now Enumclaw gets a chance to prove it with two of the next three games on the road. Tuesday the team will play against Lakes High School at Steilacoom Park,

Wednesday the Hornets host Lakes at Osborne Field at 7 p.m. then on Friday at Penin
