GOLF: Enumclaw qualifies five to state; Sumner takes three

Enumclaw High won both boys and girls team titles and qualified five golfers for the state tournament in May. Sumner boys won the team title and qualified two for state, while Rebecca Turcotte is in for the girls.

3A Golf

Tyler Salsbury won the SPSL 3A Medalist Tournament Tuesday, Oct. 19, at Gold Mountain Golf Complex in Bremerton and locked up one of five spots at May’s Class 3A boys golf tournament.

Salsbury followed up his first round 66 with a 70 for a two-day stroke total of 136. Hornet teammate Tim Livermore will join him at state. Livermore finished fourth at 73 and 79 for 152.

Enumclaw was also the team winner.

Girls

Kelly Sweeney, Tiffany Wilkening and Janie Francis earned a tee time at the girls Class 3A state tournament in May.

Sweeney finished third with a two-day total of 162, 80 and 82. Wilkening was right behind in fourth following up her Round 1 score of 84 with a 92 for a 176 total. Francis finished fifth with matching 89s for 178.

Enumclaw was the team winner.

2A Golf

Brandon Barlow and Austin Spanier qualified for the Class 2A state golf tournament in May with a Top 6 finish Tuesday, Oct. 19, at Gold Mountain Golf Complex in Bremerton.

Barlow and Spanier, both juniors, finished second and third respectively. Barlow shot a 78 for Round 2 to give him a two-day stroke total of 157. Spanier finished at 80 and 83 for a two-day total of 163.

Sumner was also the team winner.

Girls

Sumner’s Rebecca Turcotte earned the final spot into May’s Class 3A state golf tournament with a Round 2 score of 88. Turcotte shot 99 for the opening round to give her a two-day total of 187 to tie with Jasmine King of Washington for the sixth and final spot.
