Great things expected from Lady Panthers

Bonnie Lake High water polo coach Tamara Knotts is full of praise for her team.

Bonnie Lake High water polo coach Tamara Knotts is full of praise for her team.

Courtney Fisher, a senior and team co-captain, is one of the players earning kind words.

“She’s a fighter, she has been from the start,” Knotts said. “She gets out there and it’s like she’s on fire.”

Knotts admires Fisher’s leadership quilities, which she said lead to excellence.

“You get a title because you’re a leader, you’re not a leader because you get a title,” she said.

Knotts said another example for the team to follow is set by senior Kirsty Moore.

“She just really goes after it. She’s an all-or-nothing kind of player. The other girls follow suit because they see that,” she said.

The team has nine players and a welcome returning player is senior and co-captain Megan Grant. It’s her fourth year playing and, according to Knotts, she not only brings talent to the pool, but enthusiasm which helps buoy the team.

“It doesn’t matter what we’re doing in workout, she’s always smiling,” Knotts said.

Senior Alex Ellis is also an asset to the team with her versatile shooting.

“She has an amazing outside shot. She can shoot right or left,” Knotts said.

The season starts Monday with a match at Auburn Riverside.

“I expect to see great things from these girls,” Knotts said.
