Friday the 13th was nothing but good luck for Bonney Lake High School's baseball team. On April 13, Bonney Lake scrubbed Lakes High 9-0, then repeated the feat on the Lancers home turf April 16. The Enumclaw Hornets were scrubbed next on April 17, with the Panthers taking them down 9-5.

With a 9-0 score twice in a row, the difference came down to details.

The Panthers first encounter with Lakes was front-loaded to the first four innings, with two, two, three and two runs in each, respectively. At-bat, Taiki Green, Michael Gretler and Ty Hander held the most starpower. Green went three-for-three on hits, and batted in two runs. Gretler went one-for-three, batted in two runs, and hit one homer. Hander went two-for-three and batted in two runs. On the mound, Nate Potterf pitched seven innings, had 13 strikeouts and two walks.

The second Lakes encounter had an early two runs in the first inning, another run in the fifth, three runs in the sixth and three in the seventh. At-bat, Joey Gamache went three-for-five, hit one run, had one run batted in, and hit one double. On the mound, Mike Gould pitched seven innings, allowed two hits, allowed no runs, threw six strikeouts and three walks.

April 17 versus Enumclaw High saw the Panthers hit five runs in the third inning, one in the fourth, one in the fifth and two in the sixth. Enumclaw took three in the fifth and two in the seventh.

At bat, Joey Gamache went two-for-four and batted in three runs. Michael Gretler went two-for-three at bat, batted in one run and stole one base.

On the mound, Joey Gamache pitched five innings, allowed six hits, allowed three earned runs, threw four strikeouts and two walks.

A Thursday game versus Enumclaw was postponed and the Panthers were next scheduled to play Peninsula April 24.
