Hornets sneak in victory over Yelm

The 2009 Enumclaw High girls tennis season started on the right foot with a 4-1 nonleague victory over Yelm March 18, but then Mother Nature put a damper on Friday’s South Puget Sound League 3A home opener, forcing the Hornets to reschedule the contest with Peninsula.

The 2009 Enumclaw High girls tennis season started on the right foot with a 4-1 nonleague victory over Yelm March 18, but then Mother Nature put a damper on Friday’s South Puget Sound League 3A home opener, forcing the Hornets to reschedule the contest with Peninsula.

The Hornets get another chance to hit the courts at 3:30 p.m. Thursday in another nonleague match at Capital.

Against the Tornadoes, Amanda Oster won her singles match 6-0, 6-1.

Anna Nelson and Lauren Redman teamed up to score the Hornets a 6-2, 6-1 doubles victory. Enumclaw won all three doubles matches with Julie Sanders and Breanna Pierce winning, 6-1, 6-2, and Gina Sanders and Bedda Johnson, winning 6-0, 6-4.
