Kahne works his way to 11th in Las Vegas Sunday

It was a day of ups and downs for Enumclaw NASCAR Sprint Cup driver Kasey Kahne Sunday at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, but when the checkered flag finally fell, the No. 9 Budweiser Dodge finished 11th.

“It so easy to get behind when things aren’t going exactly right,” Kahne said. “As a team, the guys have done a great job so far getting the best finish while trying to make the least amount of mistakes to get the best results. We’re getting better. We still have some work to do. To come out of here with an 11th-place finish is good because we really worked hard trying to get our car better all day.”

Kahne credited crew chief Kenny Francis for sticking with it and finding the right balance in the end.

“We’ll take it,” Francis said. “We’ve been struggling a bit and just kept working on it as hard as we could all day and ended up 11th. It was a good finish for our Budweiser Dodge. We’ just keep trying to get the best finishes that we can and build up some points while we keep working on our stuff to make it better.”

Las Vegas native Kyle Busch won the race.

Sprint Cup racing continues Sunday from Atlanta. Television coverage begins at 10:30 a.m. on FOX.
