Norris finishes fourth at Lake Washington

Even though the girls lost to White River, coach Kristin Martin said some of her team had personal bests.

“I was so disappointed that we lost, but we had a lot of little victories,” she said.

Jessica Vandergiessen won the triple jump in 33 feet, 2.5 inches and the high jump at 4-10. It was her best mark in the triple jump.

In the shot put, Veronica Garahan won first with a toss of 30-1 – her best of the season.

The 1,600-meter relay team of Lauren Bulzomi, Tessa Hansen, Carson Blankenship and Ashlee Sincraugh won the race in 4 minutes, 12.6 seconds.

“They ran well and I know they’re pumped to get some good competition from Bonney Lake next week,” Martin added.

Kaylee Holloway won the 100 hurdles in 16.67 and Sincraugh took first in the 400 at 1:00.76. Hillary Norris won the 1,600 in 5:19 seconds.

Norris finished fourth in the 800-meter run at the Lake Washington Invitational Saturday at Sammamish High School.

She posted her best time of the season with a mark of 2 minutes and 17.25 seconds, four seconds faster than her previous best a week earlier.

The Sumner boys also split. They beat Clover Park, 87-57, but lost to White River, 101-44.

Ryan Halvorsen won the 100 in 11.43 seconds and the 400-meter team took first with a winning time of 46.40 seconds.

In the field events, Seth Rodriguez won the javelin with a throw of 150-4.

Sumner closes out the regular season Thursday at home against Bonney Lake and Franklin Pierce.
