Every member of the Enumclaw High baseball team was rooting April 7 for senior southpaw Andrew Olson, who wound up twirling a no-hitter against Lakes, as EHS cruised to an easy 13-0 South Puget Sound League 3A victory.

Olson gave up only two walks and fanned eight Lancer batters en route to his initial career no-hitter.

“The report I got from my pitching coach was that Olson looked terrible warming up in the bullpen,” Enumclaw skipper Eric Fiedler said about his ace. “He even got off to kind of a rocky start as he was wild in the first inning, but the guys were backing him up with some great defense and he just looked better and better as the game went on.”

The Hornets currently reside on top of the SPSL 3A along with Auburn Mountainview, both 6-1 through games of the weekend, and have a chance to be all alone in first place as they are slated to face the Lions at 4 p.m. Thursday on Enumclaw’s Osborne Field. The game was originally slated for March 31 but was postponed due to inclement weather.

Enumclaw doesn’t have the luxury of looking ahead, though, as it must first had to contend with Bonney Lake Tuesday and will face Sumner High today, Wednesday.

After Olson spun his no-hit jewel, Enumclaw proceeded to do some making up as it trimmed Franklin Pierce 5-4 in a 10-inning nailbiter April 8, beat White River 14-8 in a Friday slugfest that included more than 30 hits and, in a rare Saturday home game, bounced out to a 8-0 advantage by the bottom of the second stanza and then held on to beat Peninsula 8-7.
