Panthers outplay Spartans 8-1 in preseason exhibition | Fastpitch Softball

The winning pitcher for the Panthers is Melissa Charron and the losing pitcher for Sumner was Allie Sims.

The Panthers and Spartans opened the fastpitch season at Bonney Lake Saturday in a nonleague game.

Bonney Lake won 8-1 with a solid display of hitting, fielding and pitching.

For the Panthers Courtney Campbell went 2-3 at the plat with a double and RBI.

Kali Patterson hit 3-4 with a double and two RBIs.

Kala Wells also hit a double.

Sims threw seven strikeouts for Sumner and Charron 11 for the Panthers.

Sumner had seven hits with four errors and Bonney Lake nine hits with no errors,

Jessica Pederson for Sumner hit 1-3 with a double and RBI.

Sims went 2-4,with a single.

Sumner coach Kristin Crawley said by email, “It was a rough start for the Sumner… but in the sixth inning returner Jessica Pederson hit a solid 2B which gave the Spartans enough energy to score and not leave Bonney Lake empty handed. It was a great team effort, and we improved over the course of the game.”

Bonney Lake hosts Auburn Riverside 4 p.m. Thursday and Sumner hosts Graham-Kapowsin
