Peak Gymnastics shines at state meet

Enumclaw-based Peak Gymnastics had a handful of girls do well at the Level 4 state gymnastics meet, placing high in their age groups in all-around competition.

Enumclaw-based Peak Gymnastics had a handful of girls do well at the Level 4 state gymnastics meet, placing high in their age groups in all-around competition.

Erin McGinnes finished first with a 35.825; Chyle Schillen was fifth with 34.7; Ting Pan wound up fifth with 35.825; and Elise Dunning was seventh with 36.25.

The Peak squad also did well at the Level 4 boys state meet.

A highlight was provided by Ethan Williamson won the AA state title, besting a field of 90 Level 4 competitors.

Derek Dunning placed first on vault and fourth on the high bar; Ricky Bonthuis was fourth on the floor and fifth on the vault; and Kyle Bell also represented the team well.

Coach Ben Skipworth also acknowledged the major improvement shown by Leah Perry, Willow Perry, Hallie Garland, Elizabeth Bozich, Hannah McGinnes and Bailey Higgins.

Peak gymnasts will train during the summer and begin competing again in October.
