Sixteen Spartans take first place against Fife | Sumner Track & Field

Sumner High School's track and field team came out of Friday's Mountain Invitational at Yelm High School with a 20-point 13th placing for the girls, and a five-point 15th placing for the boys.

Sumner High School’s track and field team came out of Friday’s Mountain Invitational at Yelm High School with a 20-point 13th placing for the girls, and a five-point 15th placing for the boys.

At the home meet against Fife and washington high schools, eight boys and eight girls ended the day with at least one, first place win under their belt.

Amanda Riley won the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.70 seconds.

In the 800-meter run, Kyle Lutz came in first at 2 minutes, 8.89 seconds, as did Alyssa Murray with 2:25.24.

In the 1600-meter run, Cory Brandt came in first with 4:43.80, as did Murray with 5:17.10.

In the 3200-meter run, Josh Goodsell won with 11:03.66, and Abi hensler won with 12:11.35.

The boys 4×100 relay team of Jeremy Jackson, Turre Heikla, Erin Soltesz and Ronnie Hinze took first in 46.21 seconds.

The girls 4×400 relay team of Nicole Stoneback, Murray, Leah DeDominces and Robi Long won in 4:19.85.

Andrew Andrada rose to the highest boys high jump with 5 feet, 4 inches. Heikla hopped, stepped and jumped a collective 37 feet, 9.5 inches in the boys triple jump. Khenya Dean threw the 1-kilogram discus 96 feet, 6 inches in the girls division. Michaela Trulson soared upward 8 feet, 6 inches in the girls pole vault.
