Enumclaw High finished its opening week with a 2-1 record for second place in the East Division of the South Sound girls water polo league.

Enumclaw High finished its opening week with a 2-1 record for second place in the East Division of the South Sound girls water polo league.

The Hornets kicked off with a 10-7 loss to Auburn Riverside March 22. EHS scoring was led by Erin Stucker with three goals and Breanna Flaquinti with two. Rachel Deonigi and Annie Birklid each added a goal.

Enumclaw bounced back March 23 with a 12-3 win over Auburn. The Trojans kept the game close for the first half, but the Hornets kept Auburn scoreless in the second half.

Stucker led EHS scoring with six goals. Kelsey Sonneson scored four. Ali Ballard and Flaquinti each added a goal.

The Hornets finished strong Friday with a 24-2 win over Sumner. All of the players who suited up scored, led by Lindsay Bowden’s six goals.

Ballard and Alexis Firlotte each scored three goals. Alina Van Ruff, Deonigi, Stucker and Sonneson each scored two. Scoring one goal each were Birklid, Flaquinti, Logann Erskine and Hannah Kinniburgh.

EHS heads to Auburn Mountainview at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
