The Enumclaw High Hornets struck for three goals in the first half Friday and went on to defeat the visiting Sumner Spartans 4-0 in South Puget Sound League 3A soccer action.

Playing on the natural grass of the Southwood field, Nino Averill recorded the shutout in goal for the Hornets. EHS jumped on top in the 21st minute thanks to a goal by Caleb Slatt and went up 2-0 just a minute later when Justin Williams alertly poked home a goal following a miscue by the Spartan keeper. Williams scored again before intermission and Stefan Pirker finished the Hornet scoring with a goal in the 56th minute.

Things didn’t go as well April 14 when Enumclaw traveled to Auburn Mountainview and lost 1-0 to the Lions.
