The gymnasts at Bonney Lake High are back and the tumbling turns are looking very good for these girls.

Coach Kathleen Kirkpatrick has a large group of 26 and a solid, competitive team.

The captains, all top gymnasts, are senior Megan Waldron and juniors Kelsi Potterf and Courtney Lunde.

Potterf has competed in the state tournament the past two years and will be one of the team’s top performers with her work on the floor, vault, uneven bars and beam. She also choreographs floor routines for the team.

The veteran gymnast has proven herself to be one of Bonney Lake’s top athletes, finishing sixth at the state diving meet during the recently-completed season.

Waldron will be the first Panther senior to graduate after competing on the gymnastics team all four years in high school.

A couple of other seniors who will make their marks, Kirkpatrick said, are Courtney Fisher, who has been working hard on her floor routine, and Nicole Kotlan.

Sophomore Kelli Hoffman should be strong on the floor, vault and beam and classmate Brittany Morris is solid on the floor and bars.

Kirkpatrick said sophomore Sarah Skinner has potential on the beam and floor.

Two other gymnasts to look for are Cheyenne Samuels, a sophomore, and Amanda Hawkins.

The Panthers will compete at 7 tonight, Wednesday, at Auburn Riverside against Emerald Ridge and Decatur.
