Sumner’s girls swim team came in second place at the West Central District III Championship meet Saturday. The Spartans are sending eight primary swimmers and three alternates to the state tournament Friday and Saturday.

The 200-yard Freestyle Relay saw Ashley Huynh, Madison Munger, Alicia Ditty and Kallan Gustafson took first place with a time of 1 minute, 47.08 seconds.

“Mind you, Kallan… had to go from the 500 free… get on the award stands for the 500 free awards, then run over and swim a 50 sprint as the third leg of this relay,” Coach Dana Powers said. “She had a gutsy performance this weekend.”

The same foursome swam the 200 Medley Relay to a 1:58.74 second placer behind Port Angeles.

Gustafson seconded in the 200 Free at 2:06.89, and took third in the 500 Free with 5:55.17.

The 200 Individual Medley saw Munger second in 2:15.65, followed by Huynh in third and Ditty in seventh. Munger also seconded the 100 Butterfly with 1:02.46.

Ditty took third in the 100 Backstroke with 1:05.64.
