Spartans bring in a pair of victories | Girls Swim

The Spartan girl’s swim team continued its winning streak last week with two victorious meets. They swam at home against Eatonville Sept. 24, with a final score of 138-47. They faced Fife in an away meet Sept. 26 and won 105-82.

District qualifiers included Michaelann Wilson and Sophie Walker in the 500 freestyle with times of 6 minutes, 38.08 seconds and 6.39.80 respectively. Walker also qualified in the 200 freestyle, with a finishing time of 2.26.83. Senior Madison Munger posted her second state qualifier with a time of 2.20.58 in the 200 individual medley. Other best times at last weeks meets include:  50 freestyle – Kristen Easterly 30.31, Lauren Baker 34.05, Ellaysia Butler 37.12, August Wright 42.28, Stacie Friend 43.20 and Keiren Mead 50.87

100 freestyle – Brittany Tuffs 1.08.17, Rachel Montoya 1.23.66, Kylie Sterling 1.25.59, Madison Thibodeau 1.32.09, Stacie Friend 1.37.59, August Wright 1.38.32, Anna Gano 1.54.94 and Keiren Mead 1.54.94

Coach Dana Powers said in an email that many of the swimmers continue to show improvements by shaving off time. The girls are scheduled to face Steilacoom at 3:30 p.m. Sept. 30 in Sumner.
