Spartans take down Spanaway Lake 11-0 | Sumner Fastpitch

Sumner’s fastpitch softball team defeated the 4A Spanaway Lake Sentinels 11-0 Monday in nonleague play.

Jessica Pederson was the star hitter of the afternoon. In her four times at the bat, she hit two home runs, one triple and one single. She batted in six runs and made three runs herself.

Cassidy Sargent connected twice in her four times at bat, hitting two singles and batting-in one run. She made three runs herself and stole two bases. Amanda Hanes was similarly successful, going two for four at-bats, hitting a single and a double.

Transitioning from the mound to the plate, Sims connected two hits — a single and a triple — out of five times at bat. She batted in one run and made two runs herself.

The team is scheduled to play Graham-Kapowsin at home Thursday, weather permitting.
