SPORTS BRIEFS: Jones signs to play soccer at WWU

Brianna Jones, who helped lead the Bonney Lake Panthers to a second-place finish in the state Class 3A soccer tournament, will be taking her game to Western Washington University in Bellingham.

Brianna Jones, who helped lead the Bonney Lake Panthers to a second-place finish in the state Class 3A soccer tournament, will be taking her game to Western Washington University in Bellingham.

The Vikings are a NCAA Division II program, participating in the Great Northern Athletic Conference. The team has found plenty of success lately, finishing 10-4-4 over during the recent season and 11-4-4 the year prior.

The 18-year-old midfielder signed a national letter-of-intent Feb. 2 at the school.

Following her senior season, in which the Panthers advanced to the championship round of the 3A tourney, Jones received first-team all-state honors. She also plays for Washington Premiere Futbol Club.

The daughter of Randy and Nicole Jones, she plans to study elementary education at WWU and is interested in pre-med studies.
