The season just started, but swimmers are already qualifying for the postseason.

The Enumclaw High swim and dive team opened the season in impressive fashion, routing Auburn 131-51 on Sept. 11.

Competing at the Enumclaw Aquatic Center, Hornet swimmers – under coach Becky Pratt – won 11 of 12 events.

Individually, four EHS swimmers were two-time winners: Ryley Pilato took both the 200-yard and 500-yard freestyle; Jaiden Matteson won both the 50 and 100 freestyle; Elise Pratt captured 100 butterfly and 100 breaststroke; and Anna Bogh was tops in the 200 individual medley and 100 backstroke.

Hornet quartets raced their way to victories in all three relays. Winning the 200 medley relay was the team of Petellin, Pratt, Bogh and Matteson; taking the 200 freestyle relay were Gracie Smith, Zusha Maxwell, Leanna Walski and Matteson; and grabbing first in the 400 freestyle relay were Ella Hoyne, Cameron Lee, Bogh and Pratt.

Claiming second-place honors were Hannah Baxter in the 100 and 200 freestyle; Petellin, 200 IM and 100 backstroke; Smith, 50 freestyle; Hoyne, diving; Lee, 100 butterfly; and Reagan Molen in the 500 freestyle.

With an eye toward postseason competition, already earning a district berth was the 200-yard medley relay team. Individually, Bogh met the district standard in the 200 IM and 100 backstroke, while Petellin qualified in the 100 backstroke and Pratt hit the qualifying time in the 100-yard breaststroke.

Meeting league-qualifying times were Pilato in the 500 freestyle, Petellin in the 200 IM and Pratt in the 100 butterfly.
